The Walking Dead TV series has become wildly popular, with Season 4 coming in October, I wouldn’t be surprised if it breaks the viewing rating record again. With what seems like a zombie renaissance in recent years, it is only natural that similar TV show will come popping- up and hoping to share that piece of success.
A pair of zombie-themed TV shows coming out of France and UK is reinventing the popular genre and is offering a new twist on the living dead. From French, “The Returned” (currently being broadcast in the U.K.) and the British “In The Flesh” (which recently aired in the U.S. on BBC America) have framed the zombie concept in new interesting, unorthodox angles.
The French show, “The Returned”, is a re-do of a film called Les Revenants (2004). I enjoyed the original and I think the trailer for the new TV version looks pretty awesome. The show is about how many supposedly dead people started to reappear in a small mountain town. The “returned” dead people apparently looks normal and try to resume their lives as strange phenomena kept occurring.
Life does get hell lot more complicated when you have road accident teenager victim; suicidal bride; murdered boy and serial killer come back to live!
Awesome trailer for “The Returned”
BBC America had a special 3 night premiere of In The Flesh back in June 6; not sure what I was doing but I missed that. Basically, the main storyline of In The Flesh miniseries is about a teenager named Kieren Walker, who committed suicide. Yet he came back, unwillingly, as member of the undead. The zombie are known as PDS (Partially Deceased Syndrome) suffers, had to go through months of treatments and rehab in order to gradually return to society.
However, Kieren had to confront the hostile community and begin to have horrible flashbacks of what he did in his current untreated state.

And of course, we shouldn’t forget all the wonderful anime that came of Asia. Most noticeably, an popular zombie TV series worth noting is called “High School of the Dead” from Japan. HOTD is set in the present day, beginning as the world is struck by a deadly pandemic that turns humans into zombies. The story follows a group of high school students, the high school’s nurse, and a young girl as they fight their way to safety through the deadly streets of Japan during a worldwide catastrophic event known as the “Outbreak”. The plot is pretty standard, but the show is thoroughly entertaining. This anime series, like The Walking Dead, is also based on the comic series. I didn’t had chance to pick up the comic volumes so I can’t tell you if the anime series adhere to the comic plot, but I really liked the TV anime series. And really looking forward to Season 2. You should definitely check it out Highschool of the Dead when you have chance.

Yes, Zombies are popular, whether it is big blockbuster movie like World War Z, or entertaining TV shows like The Walking Dead; we royal fans just can’t get enough of these flesh eating bastards!
Another thing I can’t help but want to mention is Zombieland. If you watched a lot of zombie movies, you owe yourself to watch this wonderful “zombie comedy”. It was one of the most enjoyable zombie movies around. However, the hope of us seeing the highly anticipated Zombeland sequel is dimming with each passing day, so I am thrilled to include this rumor of ‘Zombieland’ TV Series Being Developed By Fox!
It is a good time to be a fan of the undead
